New Toms Shoes: Ballet Flats

New, do-good flats coming soon!

The Toms company is expanding from their classic, comfortable slip-on’s to just as comfortable, more stylish ballet flats. They feature the same cushioned sole but are a little more fashionable to wear out and about. The line will be coming on Spring 2012 and will continue on the “one for one” philosophy, where for every pair purchased, another pair will be donated to a person in need.

If you’re still searching for a Halloween costume, look at these

A simple but fun Halloween costume idea

While most of us might not consider Martha Stewart much more than a morning TV host, the woman does have some great craft ideas. Last week when I was still at a loss for Halloween costumes, a Google search brought up this collection of Martha’s ideas. The costumes run from the spectrum from easy DIY to over the top, from kind of lame to pretty cool, and if nothing else are fun to look at it. See the full slideshow of ideas here.

Non-White Wedding Gowns…

Vera Wang exhibited her Fall 2012 Collection of bridal gowns at New York’s bridal fashion week and shocked the fashion nobility.

The designer, who knows how to dress every bride in her dream gown, is dressing brides in her own signature color – Black. Yes folks that’s right, seems like the Queen of Bridal couture has had a moment of clarity – that most of us ain’t virgins on our wedding day (Actually it’s estimated only 5% of us are), so why bother wearing white?” – blogher has a dialogue of non-white wedding gowns too…BUT can the white wedding gown style and tradition eventually fade?

It seems unlikely. Although only 5% of women are virgins on their wedding day…that does NOT mean they will wear a black dress. While Vera Wang is making a statement; she is still producing white wedding gowns and the majority of women will continue to wear white–with the understanding that they are not trying to symbolize virginity, but rather opting for a tradition that has been popular since the 1800’s.

Eco-Friendly Lingerie…oooh la la

“Starting out with a small range of clothing made from hemp, combined with Fifties and Sixties prints, the label has now evolved into a Pin-Up-inspired lingerie brand with a twist.” – Vogue

Unrealistic Scenes

unrealistic scenes

We found this awesome photographer/artist Nathan Spotts. You can find more of his work here. He has a series of realistic/unrealistic photos of scenes such as cities, deserts and beaches.

“I’ve always been captivated by the beauty of our world, and often dream of the things that lay just beyond what we can see.  I wanted to create images of scenes that are not-quite real, but that almost could be. ” – Nathan Spotts
